FAQ.
What is the digital signature?
A digital signature is the digital equivalent of a handwritten signature, thus providing the same guarantees (and even higher) as one. Basically a digital signature is nothing more than a sequence of characters (a chain of numbers, letters and symbols) obtained through a mathematical combination from a personal, non transferable keyword given by the signatory subject, plus the data of an electronic document. The resulting sequence, the digital signature, is unequivocally associated to the signatory’s secret keyword and the signed document so that both the integrity of the document’s content and the sender authenticity are guaranteed.
What is the digital certificate?

A digital certificate is a file issued by a trust entity (called certificate authority) the aim of which is to answer the question: how do we know that a digital signature belongs to its supposed owner? For that purpose, two types of certificates are available: private key and public key. The first one, as his name suggests, is private and confidential and contains the needed information to sign document electronically. On the other hand, the public key certificate has public scope and contains the needed information to univocally identify the owner of a digital signature issued within an electronic document.

What does an electronic transaction entail?

An electronic transaction is the digital form of a hard copy (invoice, order, contract, etc.). When the transaction is accompanied by a recognized digital signature, it has the same legal validity as the physical document so that it could completely substitute it.

What are the advantages of the electronic transaction?

Apart from allowing the obvious paper elimination, several other advantages are gained from transacting electronically:

• Reduction of delivery cost
• Automatation of the information management processes (invoice and delivery note conciliation, invoices entering, price checking…)
• Removal of administrative tasks related to the mechanization and information processing.
• Optimization of the Universal File management.
